Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th the 28th of October, 1967. Her family is the fourth Roberts family to have resided in Atlanta. It began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was farmer. At an early age, her father began to take an interest in theater. As an undergraduate at Emory University, he performed on stage in a number of shows in Atlanta. After joining the airforce, in 1953 he appeared in an airforce production in Biloxi along with Betty Lou Bredemus. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year. Walter went to Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana following his departure from the Air Force in 1957. The family relocated in 1960 into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter as well as Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning show on local television for children called Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. It was a venture they self-financed. In the following year, they established The Actors and Writers Workshop which ran for six years. They had two more children, Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) as well as Julia Billingsley (1967) (also known as Julie).
